Almost June?

How’s everyone doing? Can you believe May is almost over? I can’t. I just got use to writing May for everything. When May came I was like…when did we have April!  Goodness, the time. It reminds you that time waits for no one. Words to live by if you have things you want to accomplish. *Cough cough* Like writing a book…hey it’s my dream! *Cough cough*

Here’s the AF4 stitch update.

Asian Fantasy 4 WIP 12.5 (052216)

One more column to go on this current page and then one more full page until I can move on down. I still plan to have an addition to my stitch collection (^_^). I may wait and gift it to myself once I finish the very next page. It’d be an inspiration to finish the next page.

Spring and summer are not my seasons, but I hope you’re enjoying it if you like it. We’re getting soooo much rain and I love it. Bring the dark and gloom anytime. I wonder if it’s an introvert thing. I get my energy from these days. I mentioned that to someone before and she asked me if I was a gloomy person and I told her I’m not haha. Then began to wonder why do I like the rainy/snow/cold/typically considered “bad” weather? Seriously, my best days haha. Anyone else like that?

Keep Stitching!

#7 | 2015 WIPocalypse

I haven’t participated in the WIPocalypse since April. Not that I didn’t want to, but I was trying to reach a goal and hadn’t until now.

The question of the months is: Reality or Fantasy. Which do you prefer to stitch? Figures or Abstract?

This isn’t very hard for me to choose at all. I love me some Fantasy stitching projects. It has to be super colorful, elegant, and a bit on the adorable cutesy side. (I have to note here that I’m thinking of “reality” as something that looks like a photo.) I’ll always fall for the colorful and complex. The only exception is anything abstract. I honestly can’t get into abstract stitching projects. All that color together and spiraled around makes my head hurt and my tummy queasy. I’m the same way with abstract art. My body just doesn’t agree with it. Weird, right?

Question answered. Now here’s some pictures!

Where I am now

Asian Fantasy 4 WIP 9 (070515)

For all who follow my blog, I’ve finished one page as I’m going upwards. I have 3 more pages to go. Let’s see if I can do a page a week.

Merry Stitching!

A Stitch Here, A Stitch There

Guess what? I actually did an entire column this past week? Can you believe it? I know I can’t. Before I went to bed, I put in a little stitch time (I missed it!) and soon finished another column.

Here it is:

Asian Fantasy 4 WIP 8.5 (051015)

When working on this new column I’m starting to use some “shiny” thread. I already used a gold color on the hand.

Shiny Gold

I did try to take a picture of the other color, but it’s far to light to show. You couldn’t tell the difference in the pictures. The gold does stand out though. The other color you can see sparkle only at certain angles.

Specialty threads

I do find them difficult to put them in the eye of my needle, as well. They do split and break in different directions too. So, I try to stitch as much as I can in a small space. A teeny cheat for myself. If I didn’t these threads might drive me mad. Anyone out there have any hints/tips with using threads like these? I might just be too rough with them.

This is my last busy week at work. I can’t wait to have some time to stitch more. I’ve been substituting my cross stitch with meditation. I find myself, after work, looking to center myself and the meditation does just that. Who am I kidding, I’m addicted to meditating haha. Is that possible? I get super happy when I know I’m going to have quiet time to do it. Then again…I’ve got lots to make me happy as of late. Oh gosh, what am I even hinting at on that one. I wonder. (^_^).

Alright guys have a good week. Make sure to get some you time in your daily routine.

#4 | 2015 WIPocalypse

Wow, it’s that time for the big ol’ Wipocalypse. March went by very fast. It’s not just me, is it? I did spend two weeks of it on a searching journey and that took out a big chunk of my March. Which was fantastic. I feel brand new and like all my puzzle pieces I might have lost, little by little over the years, started fitting back into their proper places. Initially, they were forcibly trying to fit where they shouldn’t. Yeah…it was like that wasn’t it?

Now I’m in April and seeing things differently. A nice new start. See? You can always start something new at any moment at any time. It just takes that brave step to go for it. (^_^).

Now, the question for this month is “Which specialty stitches do you love doing on projects? Which do you dread?

I can cross, back, half, short and long, french knot, satin, and stem stitch. My favorite type of stitch is the satin. When I used to d embroider I loved satin stitches. I don’t embroider now, not that I couldn’t but just that I lost my passion for it, but I still admire an elegant satin stitch. It can make or break as a filler.

I dread half stitches. I think they want you to believe they’re simplistic when they’re evil incarnate. I have to plan a half stitch. Especially if there are plenty of them not in a single row. Drives me bananas. In my spastic little world, “Simple = Complicated”. I have to complicate it because I thrive in a challenge. Heck, I love a challenge!

To recap, I love doing satin and dread the half. Even if I don’t do satin now, it’s a favorite past-time stitch.

The WIP this time looks more promising than the last time. I stitched madly, but enjoyably.

This is where I’m starting for April, I still can’t believe it’s April, and after this page I’ll hit the far left border of the pattern. I’m very excited about it. Keep it sort of hushed, but I’ve worried I didn’t get the right size of fabric. When I get to the edge I’ll at least know if I got the width right. Next I’ll have to worry about the height. I fret too much, I know, but it’s a little worry.

Now, I have some major blogs to catch-up on! I fill like I missed a lifetime on what’s going on with everyone.

Have a wonderful month and happy stitching.

#3 | 2015 WIPocalypse

I know, I know, I know….where’s #2 WIPocalypse??

I believe the part of my brain to remember to do the February post, went on vacation. Not just any vacation! It went on an excursion so far away that it had a faint smell of something alien. It boldly went where no brain piece dared to go. A galaxy far, far away perhaps? (I was trying to do a Leonard Nimoy dedication here, but ended up sounding like something for Star Wars, oh well).

Wherever my mind went, I forgot to do it. Thus, I skipped to #3.

The question of the month is, “If money – and time- were not limiters, what projects would be on your stitching bucket list?

I, unfortunately, do not have any stitching projects in mind besides the ones I’m currently working on. But, I gave the question a very serious thought. If I had money, plus time of course, I would want to do a mass project with the biggest fabric ever and stitch a collage of artwork from my favorite artists. It’d be one of those epic cross stitching projects that no man shall ever lay eyes on again!

If not the biggest fabric ever, since realistically that’d be uncomfortable to work with, I would just patch them together as I go. And I want them big! I always go big (^_^). I would pick which artwork to do, first. Then proceed to stitch away. Would be fun, no? For me…yes! This is only if I had all the time in the world. It’s still attainable, but at this point I have my hands full with the projects I have hehe. Maybe something for the old bank (brain?) later.

Drum roll……..

On to the WIPS! (This is really for everyone just interested in the Wipocalypse updates.)

First is AF4. I came quite the ways from the first.

January WIP

Asian Fantasy 4 WIP 7.3 (020115)

March WIP

Then, I started working on Madama Butterfly, MB, in the month of February. Here’s my progress so far.

Madama Butterfly 1.1 (030315)

For everyone whose seen my progress, I haven’t been doing much stitching. Might have gotten in about 500 stitches, at least. Hooray for March. Let’s get her going.

Happy Stitching!

#1 | 2015 WIPocalypse

It’s a new year, a fresh start, a warm cookie, a yawn in the morning, and a brighter sunrise. Sounds good doesn’t it? Maybe I should have written a “buttery” warm cookie. I love the right amount of that buttery taste in my cookies. Yep. That’s better. Oh! Forgot the milk too.

With this new start I’ve decided to join in on a SAL called the 2015 WIPocalypse, as I’ve stated in my last blog, and here is my first post. You can find all my WIPS here; except, for one more addition that’s to come soon. Other than that, I don’t expect anymore projects. My goal is to either finish one, KL perhaps mwuahaha, or get halfway finished with another, the HAED’s. A relaxed stitching year is all I want because the last one was stressful.

Now, I was on a little vacation and I didn’t do as much stitching as I said I would. Surprisingly, I’m okay with it. Haha. Yeah…me…I said that! Can you believe it? It’s progress ladies and gentlemen! It can be done.

Onto the good stuff.

Here’s an update on AF4.

Asian Fantasy 4 WIP 7.1 (010515)

I did one extra column here and the beginning of another. Parking is still smoothly working for me. I don’t know if I could go back. I did try to expand to two columns, but it was getting messy and complicated. It’s nice I tried, but just not ready to branch out to that yet. I also learned that if I’m parking quite the long way down I need to pay attention to the color of the thread. I ran a dark thread all the way down and it looks hideous. I made sure to run it under stitches as I moved down, that’s not the problem, but all the colors are very light and you can see that ugly dark color all the way down. I’m too ashamed of it this time around, but next time I’ll take a picture of the back. So, pay attention to your colors. It wouldn’t have been as bad if it was light under dark, but definitely DO NOT do too much running a dark under a light. Isn’t that cross stitch basics 101? Humiliating.

Have a great week guys!

A New Cross Stitching Year

Wahhh, I am missing Christmas already. Don’t you? At least the New Year is the last hip hooray of the year. Jeez, it’ll be 2015 very soon. Can you believe it? This year went by really fast, in my opinion. It’s just a good time for a yearly reflection. I don’t have any new year resolutions. I don’t really favor deciding to make a goal that should have been made during the year before. It doesn’t take another year for me to self improve. Improvements happen as time continues to go, not at the beginning of a new year coming.

Speaking of a New Year…

I’ve decided to join a SAL, or a stitch-a-long. I’ve actually been really wanting to join one, but never found one to suit my needs. As a professional procrastinator, I really needed a SAL that was flexible. Thanks to my stitching friend, Leonore Winterer, I was able to find one that I can totally get with. It’s the 2015 WIPocalypse! The SAL’s very laid back and I get to check out other stitchers and watch their progress on any WIP’s they might accumulate. I really like finding new stitch bloggers and watching their progress ^_^.  I’m an introvert at heart, but since I’ve been blogging it’s opened me up to socializing with others online who enjoy the same hobby as I do. Many new bloggers to follow.

Have a great entrance into a new year guys!
